Dr. Motro’s Story

My interest in neurodiversity is rooted in my extensive experiences with autistic men and women including:

  • people in my personal life,

  • colleagues that I interacted with when I worked in technology, and

  • clients in my psychology practice is in Silicon Valley, a neurodiversity hot spot.

With this up-close contact, I felt compelled first to understand neurodiversity and then to be part of the movement to bring acceptance and support to this community. Combining an accurate assessment and therapeutic support can give life-changing hope to those struggling with feeling alienated in a world that doesn't understand.

It would be an honor to help you.

Main Areas of Focus

Autism & ADHD Assessments

As co-founder and clinical director of the Adult Autism Assessment Center, I review formal reports by our clinicians. I am also constantly working with our clinical team to refine our assessment process. We are dedicated to providing accurate assessments which bring clarity and a path forward for our clients.

Neurodiverse Couples

Most neurodiverse couples start off woefully uninformed about their differences and how to support and accept each other. This misinformation leads to misunderstanding, which eventually grows to the belief that the other partner is cruel, mean or simply uncaring. Emotional walls come up and intimacy fades and then dies. The most important part of our work in therapy is to free you from this painful blame and shame cycle. We work to gradually reframe how you understand and see each other, allowing a new relationship to blossom.

Adult Autism Assessment is part of New Path Family of Therapy Centers Inc.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Although we provide diagnostic assessments, we dislike the diagnostic term "Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)" and, instead, much prefer "Autism Spectrum DIFFERENCE".

When considering all the strengths and weaknesses, our clients are no more "disordered" than other people. In other words, there is no 'normal'; rather, there are different neurotypes, some more prevalent/common than others.
